FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MARKETINGWEB.COM ANNOUNCES
OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF OWNERBUILDER-FORSALE
February 24, 2003, San Diego, CA -
OwnerBuilder-forsale, the wholly owned real estate advertising
subsidiary of Marketingweb.com will officially launch on Thursday,
February 27, 2003. The subsidiary provides advertising services
to the "For Sale by Owner" (FSBO)
marketplace in San Diego, CA.
Unlike so many other online companies
trying to capture the national FSBO market, OwnerBuilder-forsale is a "neighborhood" concept. "We
only partner with local service providers and we're locally owned," Diane
W. Collins, founder of Marketingweb.com and owner of OwnerBuilder-forsale
stated. People who advertise or locate their homes on OwnerBuilder-forsale.com
get a true sense of community. "Our point of difference
further lies in the fact that we do all the work," Ms. Collins
said. The company takes all the photos, designs the web pages,
writes the descriptions, as well as uploads and maintains the
ads. Other FSBO sites require that the user be technically capable
of these tasks.
OwnerBuilder-forsale.com currently covers coastal San Diego
including Cardiff, Carlsbad, Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Encinitas,
La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe, Solana Beach and the Downtown San
Diego - Marina District. The company has plans to expand into
additional territories in the near future.
The OwnerBuilder-forsale website is
the production of two years of research. "From a technical standpoint,
we noticed that most real estate websites were designed for a "high
speed" or broadband user. Although San Diego is one of the
top ten connected cities in the United States, only fourteen
percent of that connected population accesses the Internet using
cable or DSL... and most of those users are businesses. That
means that the residential client researching the San Diego marketplace
for homes has to suffer through long download times. Often these
users don't wait. We conceived a better fate for OwnerBuilder-forsale.com," stated
Ms. Collins.
The website is fast, loading in eight
seconds on a 56K modem and one second at broadband speed. In
addition, OwnerBuilder-forsale.com uses Windows Media files
to provide virtual tours. "These
are fifteen second video clips converted to play on the most
popular media player built into the most popular browser," Ms.
Collins stated. With the majority of the Internet population
using IE as their Internet browser, using Microsoft's Windows
Media Player to display tours was a natural.
But online is only half of the story
at OwnerBuilder-forsale. "The
Internet allows us to display content, pictures and virtual tours
very inexpensively, however, the best way to drive traffic to
OwnerBuilder-forsale is through off-line advertising. We do this
by promoting client online tours in newspapers and magazines," Ms.
Collins explained. The company has contracted to add radio spots
within the next few months using a highly recognized radio personality
as the site sponsor.
Since 1997, Marketingweb.com, the parent
company of OwnerBuilder-forsale.com has been a respected marketing
consultancy serving both small and Fortune 500 companies specializing
in the development of communications campaigns that combine
traditional and new media marketing. OwnerBuilder-forsale,
its real estate advertising subsidiary represents the first
of seven different industry sector projects Marketingweb.com
will be introducing to the San Diego marketplace over the next
three years.
